Jacques Vilet
Out of print
With gentle insistence, Jacques Vilet offers us visual poetics connected with the skyline: his landscapes are those of a bygone world, with backgrounds that recede until they are nothing but a fold between sky and earth. These spaces of inner meditation avoid all romanticism in order to send human beings back to their solitude.
Jacques Vilet, following the old paths of the bargemen, offers us a vigorous, penetrating vision in which the melancholy of engulfed worlds ceaselessly brushes against us. Left alone, outside of us, these landscapes go back to being enigmatic adventure playgrounds, while human beings, caught up in European development, have turned to other relational systems.
