The construction of European identity is one of the Cross Channel Photographic Mission’s fields of investigation. From this perspective, it seemed relevant to summon an artist living in Poland, a country that confronted all of the shocks Europe sustained in the 20^th century: issues of nationality, the Second World War, the extermination camps, communism and its collapse. Like other Polish artists, reflection on identity is central to the work of Wojciech Prazmowski. With the support of old documents or more sophisticated compositions, such as photomontages or photo sculptures, he is developing an approach sharply marked by the end-of-century feeling of loss and the trivialization of imagination.
